The story
Remote OK was created by Dutch solo developer Pieter Levels, best known for Nomad List, as part of a 2015 challenge to launch 12 startups in 12 months. It grew from a scrappy PHP job aggregator on remoteok.io into a large paid job board, later moving to the premium remoteok.com domain in 2021. It remains active today, run with a minimal team and reported multi-million dollar annual revenue, alongside a growing partnership with Toptal.
