The story

PostHog was created by James Hawkins and Tim Glaser during Y Combinator's Winter 2020 batch after an earlier idea for sales teams did not work out. It grew from an open-source analytics tool into a broader product engineering suite covering analytics, session replay, feature flags, experimentation and AI-assisted development. It is now a venture-backed unicorn based in San Francisco with investors including GV, Y Combinator, Stripe and Peak XV Partners.
